frayed straps

So I noticed that my backup seat has slight fraying on the straps. I am not sure what would have caused it but I can't help but think that it is not safe to use. It is a Cosco Senera if it matters.

Is my thinking right that I should retire the seat or call and get new straps?

What do you mean by fraying?  I've learned that people seen to have different definitions of the word "fray".

IS it just "fuzzing"?  Is there any sort of actual CUT in the strap?  Where is the fraying?  Can you tell why it is fraying/what it is rubbing against?

If you could take a pic, that would be great.  Depending on where the fraying is, and how bad, the seat may or may not still be usable.

I will post a pic sometime today, thanks for responding. it is on the edge and there are just 3 spots that look like they got snagged but don't look to be cut into if that makes sense.

Sorry it has taken me so long, a gas leak and busy few days later here I am. Here is a pic http://co121w.col121.mail.live.com/att/GetAttachment.aspx?tnail=0&messageId=9706275c-6699-11e0-b8b9-00215ad80c2c&Aux=0|0|8CDC8BD815E6810||0|0|0|0||&maxwidth=220&maxheight=160&size=Att

Hopefully that works.

ETA: how do I make the pic bigger?

That link wants you to sign into Hotmail.  Can you upload it to Photobucket or someplace similar?

I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to put any text in that post. So the first pic is of the strap and shows the two spots that I am concerned about. The next two pics are of each spot close up. Let me know what you think. Thanks

How old is the seat? can you call the mfg for new straps?  Is the fraying where the clasps usually are?

It was manufactured in 07 but has only been used a handful of times. It is about where the chest clip sits.

*I* would not consider that fraying, but if you're concerned, call the manufacturer and ask what they think.
