Should I be worried? Poop question.

My EBF 9 week olds poop was normal  a few weeks ago and has now turned BRIGHT green. Neon green and really runny. Today it looked even more bright yellow gooey strange. On friday the DR said it could be normal but I just dont know. I thought It was because I drank so much Red Zinnger tea but I quit and nothing has changed. Other than weird poo ds is just fine he weighs 13 lbs and is happy and smiley. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Bright green usually indicates an excess intake of foremilk. I had some over supply when DD (now 10 weeks) was first born and she had lots of gas and bright green poop. Once we switched to one-breast-per-feeding, she started getting a lot more hindmilk, I stopped overproducing, and poop turned yellow. Occasional green (and then changing back to a more yellowy color) could just be something you ate, but if it sticks around, it's probably foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. However, if it's more of a light/muted green and mucousy, that could be a food allergy or intolerance and you might want to try an elimination diet. 13 lbs at 9 weeks sounds a lot like my DD - she's 12 lb 10 oz at 10 weeks (born 6 lb 8 oz) ... sounds like you've got lots of milk mama!

My DS's poop reacted to oversupply, a change in diet/vitamins, viruses (especially a runny nose = green poops!) and teething. If he is happy and growing well and not fussy then I just ignore it :)

Ive almost always just used one boob per feeding becuse I make so much milk. ... I just dont think foremilk/hindmilk is the deal.

My daughters turned green too, due to an abundance of foremilk.

I only use one breast, but I have excessive supply even in just one breast or the other.

Yep, I only use one breast per feeding and I had the same problem. I have over supply AND  over active letdown and babe fills up on all of that foremilk and not as much hindmilk. The result is green poop. I tried doing block feedings- feeding from the same breast for up to 6 hours, but it didn't really change things. What happened was around 16 weeks, things just naturally slowed down and babe's poop went back to yellow.

My kids have all had green poop. Our ped said a couple weeks ago that they don't worry about poop unless it's black, red or white. I guess it's normal for some kids to have green poop!

Seconding what's been said above about abundant supply.  One breast per feeding and / or block feeding (one breast per 3 or 4 hours) helped a lot for me.  As soon as I got sloppy on this, the poop turned green again.

Both my DD has green poop and I had low supply with my first. Neither were fussy, gassy or seemingly affected by this.  They have both grown well.  My Dr. said I must just have sugary breastmilk :)  I would say if baby is otherwise content, I wouldn't obsess over it.

DS has been having green, mucous-y poops.  He's a drool monster and chomping on everything, and has been on the snotty side, so I've been thinking it's attributable to snot/drool/teething.  But if your babe is happy and not gassy/whiney/upset...I don't think I'd worry all that much about it.
