My 8yo DD's first crochetting projects--she wanted so share with fellow crochetters / crafters....

The little purple pony was her first project, she used a pattern we found on Etsy. She used the slip stitch, instead of single crochet, as I taught her the wrong stitch redface.gif, but it still turned out nice. She wanted a longer neck.

The green pony was her second project. She altered the shape of the legs, as she didn't want them to look like My Little Pony.

I'm not a crafter, and I think the ponies are simply amazing love.gif. But DD would like to hear it from fellow crafters.

Those are pretty colours in the first horse.  I actually think the slip stitch looks nice on this one.  I know crochet patterns can be tricky and trying to complete, so this is awesome as a first project!  Really cute second horse and the photo by the tree is a nice touch.  Crochet is a great creative medium and can be quite structured too.  It's so cool when kids are into this stuff.

I love the colors on the first one. Those purples are great. The second one shows the stitching really well and they look good. I think she should be really proud of how those look.

My daughter says: Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I really like crochetting. I just finished a little baby sea horse. I made up the pattern myself.

Oh my goodness, these are wonderful! I am going to look for that pattern and learn crochet so I can make one for my daughter! I'd love to see the seahorse too!

Can you point me to the pattern?

Thanks!

We bought the pattern on etsy.com. http://www.etsy.com/listing/62680788/rainbow-pony-pattern?ref=sr_gallery_1&ga_search_query=rainbow+pony+pattern&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

We saw several sea horse patterns on ravelry.com. The same rainbow pony is found on ravelry as well, actually. There are some free patterns there, but you have to join (free) to see them.

Good luck!

Oh, here's the sea horse: a1.jpg

Wow, those are fantastic! Your DD did a great job. I've been trying to convince my 5-year-old to start crocheting with me, and these ponies might be the thing to get her to say yes!

Awesome. Ravelry and I are very good friends (like, I always have a Ravelry window open on my computer LOL) so I will do some searching on there. And the sea horse is lovely!

Wow those are awesome!!! I also think Ravelry is wonderful You can get questions answered really quickly and they have tons of free patterns. Like the pp said it is free.

She's EIGHT and she made those? They're fantastic!

Those look great and I;m sure she will treasure them for a long time to come. I still have some of my first sewing projects from around that age.

Those are fantastic!  She's really talented.  I can only imagine what she'll be creating in a couple of years!

She's 8? Wow. Really nice. I crochet and I do see this as very nice work.
