i just can't get over what a selfless act of love this was on your behalf. the photo of the dad with his hand over his mouth was just breathtaking! i am so amazed! can i ask how you know the parents or got involved with surrogacy? i think it takes an extremely special person to be able to be a surromom!
oh, and they are ADORABLE! what are their names?
Their names are WIlliam (Liam) and Michael. Ever since my son was born, I knew I would love to be a surrogate someday. I LOVE being pregnant and am fascinated by everything about reproduction and birth. Once my life settled down a little and my kids were bigger, I decided I was finally in a place where I could pursue it and see if it was really something I wanted to do. I met the family after I decided to go ahead with surrogacy. This was in May of 2009. It took us until November to write up contracts, go through medical and psych screening, etc. We tried our first IVF transfer in Jan 2010, and it unfortunately did not work. My IPs (intended parents) took the summer to find a new clinic that was more familiar with surrogacy and to cycle to make new embryos. We transferred again in Sept 2010, and it worked!
Such wonderful pics, homemademomma! Great job, and what an incredible gift you have given. The close ups of Dad in the delivery room and outside when baby #2 comes to meet everyone have me tearing up big time...total raw emotion on his face. *sob* How big were they? They look like a pretty good size for a few weeks early! :)
They were TINY. Michael was 5lb9oz and little William was only 3lb11oz. They are both doing amazingly well, but it was really scary when I saw how small he was.
