Clueless

As you all probably know, I am new to this site.

I am currently living in Myrtle Beach, Sc, and working as a Front Desk Clerk at a Resort on Ocean Blvd.

I have a son who is almost 15 mo old, and he is currently staying with my mother in Gate City, VA, where I will be moving to next Friday.

We were talking last night, and she told me that she had filed for temporary custody for one mo because the document I presented to her would not permitt her to obtain his medical records, provide him healthcare services, etc. Right now, I'm hurt, I'm upset, and I have no idea what to expect. I provide for my son, visit whenever I can, and keep in contact just about everyday.

I guess my whole point here is to seek advice from some other mothers who may have unfortunately experienced what I'm going through right now. I need guidance, support, and lots of advice. And of course a heads up on what to expect.

Welcome! I'm afraid I have zero advice for you. Just from a common-sense perspective, if you're moving to your son next Friday, I would assume you would be there before any custody could be settled, so it should be moot. Of course there are a lot of details missing from your post (which you don't have to share if you don't want to, but may be helpful for people who know more about this than I do): the circumstances under which your son came to be with your mother, what custody (if any) your son's father has, etc.

I think you've found the Single Parents forum, and I would recommend posting your question there, since the mamas there are most likely to have some experience in these matters.

Oh wow, no advice here either, other than to second what laohaire said about the single parents forum.  Did she just file because the act of filing would let her take him for healthcare?  Or do you think she actually plans to pursue it?

I've been to Gate City, VA, but it was a long time ago.  Good luck with your move!
