What is the best and/or safest way to clean it out of childrens' ears? Drops? Irrigation? Doctor or no doctor? How do you deal with this?
My 3 year old DS has a wax problem.
Here is what I do and it works great
I bought an otoscope so I can look in there myself and see when it is starting to get too waxy in there. It seems like for my DS that is about every 2-3 weeks.
I have him lie on his side and put a few drops of 3% hygrogen peroxide into his ear and have it lie there until it stops bubbling (usually about 10 min). I have him watching TV while I do this. Then I let it drain and use an ear wax remover syringe to flush out the ear. Sometimes the peroxide can be drying so Ill put a drop or two of olive oil or garlic oil in there afterwards.
I use oil in my DS's ears. I have used olive oil but am currently using sterile mineral oil. I put in a drop or two and within a couple of days the wax either falls out or I am able to clean it successfully out because it has moved to the front of the ear where a cloth can reach it easily.
