Place to donate old-holey clothing

I have an entire box worth of clothing (mostly cotton) that I'm not going to repair..... and I have more than an amble supply of rags. I thought I remembered that there is a company that will collect clothing no matter the condition for repurposing. Does anyone know of this or if it exists? Seems like there should be something that can be recycled/reused, but I also don't want the box cluttering up the house..... thanks in advance.

Maybe check with an local animal shelter? Our local shelter has a donation box in Whole Foods for blankets, towels and cotton clothing, they use it as bedding for dogs.

Goodwill will take the clothing.  They cut it up and  sell it as rag bundles in their stores.

I second that! It's great for dogs to sleep on. I made my dog a 'dog bed' out of an old sleeping bag stuffed with damaged clothes. She loved it.

We have a lot of weavers here who gratefully accept donations of any clothing to weave into rugs, baskets, etc.    Also folks who make patchwork, whether it's quilts or clothes or bags, always appreciate free fabric. :)

We also donate old cotton clothes to local auto shops. They use them once and throw them out but it gets them out of my house. For blankets, towels, old, really used cloth diapers those go to the vet clinic. Or like the pp said good will.

Yep, the vet... or I sometimes use old jeans as layer under the garden mulch. It takes years for old jeans to wear down and helps keep the garden weed free.
