When he was 2 I used a pretty basket I've had forever. When he was 3, I got a cute lined one from Target and that's what I'll be using going forward. It's actually never been put away---it's a nice size and the handle is hinged. Currently it's the toy train basket. :) But it will sneak along when we go to Grandma's next weekend.Â
Â
I like to just grab a playsilk instead of grass for the basket. He doesn't care and it's pretty! (Those silks are so handy! I use them for photo backdrops, instant wrapping paper, summer blankets...not to mention the little boy uses of super hero/knight capes, forts, baby blankets, etc.)Â
Â
A couple of years ago, I made some hollow wool eggs...not pretty, but they work. I'm going to add a couple of small wooden toys, and the next set of Bob books. (He's in Montessori preschool, so he's been begging to learn to read for a while. It got to where I couldn't hold out any longer, and we are admittedly a very hybrid home.) Treats will be a colorful chocolate or two and a few jelly beans.
Â
His favorite part is finding the eggs anyway. And ours are solid, so it's simple to keep the sugar to a minimum! He's already planning on "pretending to the be the Easter Bunny" to re-hide the eggs for his little cousin. :) (I let him pretend to be Santa this year and we picked out presents for Grandma and Grandpa's stockings since Santa only brings the kids presents. He thought it was SO COOL. All the magic is still there, but he gets in on the giving fun and family silliness too!)Â

The Easter bunny might also be bringing a new umbrella if I can't find his old one in the very near future!!
