Birthday Gift for a 3 Year Old Girl?

Thread Starter

DH and I have just been invited to a party for his friend's little girl this Sunday, so 2 days away. I'm always stumped when it comes to birthday gifts for children. Last year we got her a Melissa and Doug puzzle. We'd like to keep it in the  $10-12 range. Any ideas?

Thanks!

ETA So far it has been communicated that she's very much into Toy Story (especially Buzz) and horses.

What about a nice children's book and some homemade play-doh?

A doll, stroller, art supplies (my dd is 3 and loves to color, cut and glue), books, purse, tea set all would be good choices!

I vote playdoh, maybe some toy story coloring book, and a big box of crayons. My dd got a bucket of 150 craylola crayons for christmas and was very very excited that she now had a dozen different shades of pink to choose from thumb.gif

Rubber stamps and some washable ink pads?

Dolls that come with sets of magnetized clothes?  Kind of like paper dolls but sturdier.

Oh, what about a board game! We have that picnic  party Eeboo game and DD (3.5) loves it!

This sounds AWESOME! The only thing is I can't find it locally. I have to order it online and I don't have time. But I think it would really work, as she has a 4 year old brother who might enjoy playing, too. Hmmm...

Where did you get yours? I looked at Toys R Us and didn't find any EeBoo games.

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing ideas! There are so many good ones in this thread. thumb.gif

i'm able to find eeboo games at a local teacher's supply store.  do you have something like that near you or an independent toy store?

since you only have a day and toys r us may be your only option, perhaps you could just go with the toy story idea (since you know it's something she likes).  i think the coloring book and crayons (or colored pencils) that someone mentioned is a good idea.  i also found this and this and this.  and all for $10 and under.

or you could go with the horse theme.  i liked the stamp idea someone had.  this combines both.

or what about memory?  dd loves hers.  there's even a toy story version.

dd also loves this game.

i'd have many more suggestions, but i'm looking for things you can find at toys r us.

what about a set of card games?  dd got go fish and old maid (the eeboo ones, which are really nice) for x-mas and she loves them.

this is another fun game.

good luck!  i'm sure she'll love whatever you end up getting.

I know that they remade the Buckaroo game with the Toy Story horse - so that might be fun.
