New website launched to gather support for Karen Carr, CPM

Please support one of our amazing local midwives who is being criminally charged for practicing midwifery.  Karen has meant so much to so many mams and has had an enormous impact on our birthing community as a whole.

There is also a facebook page under the same name.  It is overwhelming to read all of the wonderful comments posted on this page about mothers and babies who have been blessed by Karen's service as a midwife.

Karen assisted at the births of my 2 younger children, who were caught by Judy Pradier.  She was wonderful, caring, intuitive, competent, completely supportive in what ended up being a wonderful experience for me and my family.  She has my support (and yes, it does make me feel a teeny bit old to read she has delivered over 1,200 babies, when the last time I saw her she was still training!)

This absolutely breaks my heart.  I pray, pray pray that Karen's lawyer is able to get a good jury.  It is NOT illegal for a MW to attend a breech homebirth in VA.

The potential implications to Karen, midwifery in VA as well as mamas/babies just chills me to the bone.  This is a very bad road that the Commonwealth has decided to go down.
