3.5 month old fighting sleep? HELP!

Ok... my baby has never really had an issue with going ans staying asleep through the night. But, over the past week or two, she has been fighting going to sleep both at naptime and night time. She usually falls asleep at the breast, but when she feels herself getting drowsy (her eyes start to close and/or roll back) she will jolt herself awake and begin kicking and flailing until I sit her up. She then goes for the breast again, but will do the same thing. I will burp her to make sure it's not tummy issues, but she keeps doing it. And then she wants to play. This is fine in the afternoon, but at 2am...

She's also been taking little cat naps during the day- staying sleep only for up to an hour, but fussy b/c she's still tired. She takes one long nap (3-4 hours) in the morning and after that... 20 minutes, here, 30 minutes, there, 10 minutes, 15 minutes... And then at night, she'll sleep an hour and a half tops, wake up FULLY then wants to play and won't go to sleep even when her eyes are CLEARLY beet red and she keeps nodding off. WHAT DO I DO?!?! I try to keep her in bed (we co-sleep), keep the lights off and speak soflty and rock/sing/nurse/WHATEVER her back to sleep, but she just cries until I get up and play for a while (dead dog tired, mind you) and THEN I can walk her around and turn on her lullabye cd and she'll drift off.

Please. Help.... PLEASE!

PS.. I hope all this made sense as I am still very sleepy...

Oh you poor thing :(  Sounds like the dreaded 4 month sleep regression is upon you.  Do the best you can to soldier on, in my experience the only remedy is time!

Does she let you swaddle her? If she is snuggled up tight that might stop her from flailing herself awake...? My DD always hated being swaddled and would cry until I took her out, but I've been told some babies will cry WHILE they are being put in the swaddle and will calm down quickly once in it. If it works for her then I would keep trying it even when she wakes at night- diaper change, re-swaddle, nurse back to sleep (hopefully!).
