Would you consider this midwife?

I only have one choice for a midwife in this area that is covered by the government. Otherwise I still have limited selection and have to pay over a thousand dollars.

The only thing is this midwife has only had experience with one hundred births. I still have to meet her and ask all the questions but I am not sure I am comfortable with this relative inexperience.

What do you think?

I don't think the number is as important as the training she has, or hasn't had.  As well as the vibe you get from her.

Don't forget that if you go with an MD you may end up with an intern or a resident that has even less births.  Everyone has to start somewhere.  Ask for references,  talk to others who have had her attend their births.  The number wouldn't bother me a bit, fwiw.

However, in that scenario a more experienced OB can be called in as necessary.  I would want to have a detailed discussion about the extent of her training, as well as what kinds of emergencies she has handled (SD, PPH, etc.).

That is only a car ride away in the event of an issue in a homebirth as well.  A more experienced doc is not always on site within the walls of the hospital.
