Need feedback on girl names! Due in less than two weeks!

Dh and I are having the hardest time with naming our baby girl.  There are just SO many great and cool girl names out there!

Here is our short list!  Please tell me what you think.

Summer

Autumn

Jade

Aspen

and the more traditional names we like..most sound good for middle names I think.

Hope

Lillian (Lillie for short...though it sounds so trendy to me)

Penelope (this started as a joke but it's kind of grown on us!)

Claire (most likely will be a middle name)

Paige (dittto above ^)

We really love Aspen!  Dh works in retail and has polled several customers about it...all very positive response.  Our kids don't like it though, insisting she'll get teased because of the first syllable.  I am trying to get past this too...I have a very traditional name and was still teased relentlessly for it (kelli smelly) so...it doesn't hold too much weight with the decison.  We just want HER to like it as well.

We just really like the sound and the meaning (part of the willow tree family)

thoughts please!  I am pulling my hair out!!

Summer and Autumn work better for me if your kid is actually born in those seasons.

Aspen has the *ss at the beginning.

Claire and Hope have been overdone lately. Maybe those should slide into the middle name spot.

Jade is nice. Lily has been popular but I'm hearing it less of late. Penelope has been climbing in popularity and almost always reverts to Penny for most folks.

Sorry to be a downer... got any others?

I like Lillian, Penelope and Paige. Aspen Paige sounds really nice to me. Congrats on your little girl :)

We've also tossed around....

Ivy (dh and I agree)

Nova (mostly dh)

Delilah (mostly me) < love the name except the negative biblical reference (bad bad woman..lol)

Skye (mostly dh...sounds too trendy for me though)

Thanks :)

Honestly, if someone in a retail setting put me on the spot by asking my opinion on a possible name for their child I'd be polite and say it was awesome. I just wouldn't know how to rude if I thought the name was iffy or terrible.

My favourite from your list is Ivy.

I'd feel the same, love. I'm glad he got favourable responses. I'm sure I'm just a weirdo winky.gif Congrats on your impending birth!

I love Ivy.

Nova is nice, too.

Skye is middle name territory for me.

I agree with your kids about the a$$ in the front of Aspen, but perhaps you could use it as the middle name instead? I love your traditional names list.. some suggestions for combos:

Penelope Aspen

Autumn Claire

Lillian Jade

Summer Paige

Penelope Claire

I really LOVE Penelope! It's less common, and still very classic and beautiful :)

I love Aspen Penelope and Aspen Claire.

I love Aspen! I also like Summer Hope or maybe Aspen Jade?

I'm with the person who said that Summer/Autumn seem like they should be born during their seasons.  It is kinda confusing to me.  And although I don't think siblings should have TOO much say in a name, they are sweetly trying to protect this little one, and part of me would feel like honoring their protective concern, even though I do like Aspen as a name.

I do like the name Jade - How about Jade Aspen?  Or Ivy Jade?

I really like Aspen Claire too!

I think Jade is out.

It looks like we may be down to Summer or Aspen.  I like Summer Paige or Summer Grace!

Granolamommmy3...I was also thinking Summer Hope!!  Last summer I was full of hope for this baby!

I also like Aspen Reese.

I never really thought about the season name being associated with when the baby is born.  I don't think it matters.  I mean, she was conceived in the summer smile.gif  ...

the *ss didn't even occur to me when i read Aspen! Nova is a name I haven't encountered before; very original. one of your names IS my girl name but it's not overused here AT ALL. i've been scared someone will finally stumble on it (it's used in movies a TON in recent years) and use it! so far, so good. i think we're going to win the race LOL

I like Aspen. I honestly don't think the first syllable is really going to be an issue. And even if it is... pretty much everyone gets made fun of at some point. It's not really avoidable, not matter what your name is. Sure, you might get made fun of more if your name is Princess Moonfire Starglow, but my brother's name was Ken, and he constantly got asked where Barbie was. :P

I like Jade best on your list, since the baby will be born in the spring. I think of winter when I hear Aspen, and the other 2 seasons are, well, not spring either.
Or maybe there's a name that means "spring" or "rebirth"?
