Ok, I am 38 weeks and scheduled for a 3rd c-section next week. Because my first pregnancy was when I was very young and super super skinny - and twins I carried to term - I was stretched to the extreme. I was left with a lot of extra skin. As I have matured over the years, the extra skin has formed a fold that nearly covers my c-section scars. I am starting to worry about the annoying difficulty keeping the area healthy during healing and afterward. I am thinking of asking my doctor if he could cosmetically repair the area during the c-section. Does anyone know if OBs do this? I don't want a plastic surgeon, but I am not sure if OBs are accustomed to elaborating during a c-section.... I know strange question,

Nope, OB's won't do anything about the annoying and troublesome "flap". You could ask that they cut a little higher than your previous scar, which some people have said helps lessen the affect with multiple c-sections, although I don't know of any science behind that. I feel your pain though! My advice is to keep it as dry as possible, and use corn starch powder as soon as your healed enough. I would also start pro biotics and other measures to help keep the yeast beast at bay. Â

An OB is not who you need, you would need a plastic surgeon as what you are wanting is a 'tummy tuck' to remove the extra skin or 'revise it'. You can discuss with your OB your concerns about the incision, but my guess is that he will refer to you a plastic surgeon post recovery from tthe C-Section.

Ok, I asked the OB about this and he said he would cut out the old scars but this would only remove about 2 inches of skin in the area. A true tummy tuck involves pulling the skin at the navel and re-adjusting the navel area. Oh well, when that bag of money falls out of the sky, I will have that done. :)
