Possible TMI... don't read if you don't want to know

So I'm 36 weeks along, and I have been doing hypnobabies this time around, and the course recommends perineal massage as a way to increase the flexibility of your perineum and lessen the likelihood of tearing during childbirth. That's when I noticed a few things...
Â
I have, what my internet research tells me, is called granulated scar tissue from my daughter's birth in August 2009. This explains why it hurts to have sex in certain positions, and sometimes in any position. I never pursued the reason why it hurt, I am wishing I had before now. I mean, it's pretty obvious that that's got to be a big part of it... there are skin tags down there. My body apparently went into overload on the healing end of the spectrum. Which most of the time is a good thing, but not really in this case...
Â
Anyway, I have seen that the most common treatment for this problem is the application of silver nitrate to the area. It supposedly stings like a b%$#@, and discomfort can last for 2 days after, but then everyone is SOOOO thankful that they had it done.Â
Â
I am wondering a few things, if anyone knows... firstly, if I am more prepared for this birth and things go well this time around, and I don't tear during pushing, and I take my time, could I still easily reinjure this scar tissue ( I am concerned especially about the skin tags ripping during the pushing phase)?
Â
And secondly, would an application of silver nitrate on my next visit (two days away) be harmful since I am pregnant and so far along? I know there is more blood flow down there right now, so I expect it might hurt more, etc. I am going to talk to my obgyn about it, but I wanted some natural momma input first.

Thanks in advance!
