Do younger nurslings ever wean first?

DS1 is 2.5 and DS2 is 3 months. However, it seems like DS1 needs nursing so much more than DS2 does. Both nurse a ton (not that I expect much different from a baby.) But it seems like DS2 doesn't need it as much as DS1 did when he was his age. DS2 rarely falls asleep while nursing. (unless it's nursing back to sleep from a waking). He'll often come off on his own accord. (Where as DS1 would be attached 24/7). DS2 can go 3 hours without nursing. DS1 when little could barely go 2 hours. I don't know, part of me thinks DS2 will wean before DS1. Does this ever happen?

This sounds like my 2 girls.... both still nursing though, so no answer here.

I was forcibly weaned at 4 when my 2 year old brother (the stinker) self-weaned (and my mom HAD TO go back to work, and I suppose pumping wasn't something one did in the early 70s).  So yeah, it happens!

I think this is a prime case for "every baby is different." There's no way to know which will wean first, but all babies nurse differently.
