This is such a great idea! Each bead will have so many warm feelings and love surrounding it. Please count me in! Who should I pm with my mailing address?

We did this in my Aug 2006 DDC.  It was awesome and those beads meant so much to me, especially because I was placing that baby for adoption at birth.

A word of warning though.  Many of our beads to each other got lost in the mail.  They were breaking, breaking the envelopes, and falling out of the envelopes during the mailing process.

Who do I message to be included?

Thanks!  And thank you Egmaranian...you are amazing for being willing to put this all together for us. :)

Aw, shucks innocent.gif

It's no big deal really.  I work with spreadsheets for my job and one small address list is a piece of cake. I'm jotting down the user name of each mama who indicates she wants to join in as I see the posts pop up and then I'll fill in the actual names/addresses when I get a PM with that info.  I'll go back through the thread closer to June 1st to be sure I didn't miss anyone.

I understand, I have had a lot of grief and sadness lately too.  Doing this will be a nice thing to focus on.  It feels good picking out pretty beads, putting good wishes into them, and mailing them to everyone.  Like a mini Christmas or something.  Giving always brings positive feelings.  :)

It's a really good idea even though it's more pricey.  Last time we did the bead exchange, it seemed like the mail people rolled the envelopes or something?  And it was causing the beads to pop out of the paper and get lost.  Not sure if the mail has changed any since 2006, but a lot of us lost our beads during that time so I just wanted to warn everyone this time around.

I'm glad it is!  It's a gift for us, as well.  It really will be a joy.

I am thinking of you often, today; truly grieved for your loss, and praying for your new little one, and for you.  Sending love and wishing there was more we could do....

I'm just so overwhelmed with how good it feels to be supported in all of this. You are all wonderful....it will be so nice to string it all together, knowing that your all out there. That we are in this together. I think padded envelopes are probably a good idea...I'd hate to have them all get broken! Not a good sign for a paranoid mama! eyesroll.gif There are some pretty cheap options at wallmart type stores...I'm excited to have a gift exchange in the summer! joy.gif And, I'm going to have so much fun picking them out!

Got to see my little girl today...she's a mover! if only I could feeeeel all that movement! ROTFLMAO.gif She looks perfect. Perfectly alive! joy.gif I want things to go well this time. I keep feeling so lost. It really never seems to stop. You can't stop missing your children. Even if you never really knew them. it makes me appreciate my boys and this baby so much more. I appreciate everything more than I used to. And I worry much more too. It helps to know she's o.k.. It helps to know that rainbows really do emerge.

I'm listening to Flight of the Concords...my teen left it in the computer...."have you ever been told that you look like a llama?" No....but I've been told I look like a mama!!!

Goodnight ladies....your the best!

Here's how we did it in my last DDC: One kind person volunteered to receive all the beads and then distribute them to all the individual packages and mail them out. So we all received just one package in the mail with all our beads and we all had to mail out just one package with as many beads as there were participants and some money to cover return postage. Having to mail them all individually will be expensive and prone to the beads falling out of the envelopes, as has already been mentioned. Of course, to do this, a volunteer is needed. I can't be that volunteer because I don't live in the US.

I'd like to participate if the distribution method changes such that I wouldn't have to send a bunch of international packages and have everyone else send me packages internationally.

This way makes the most sense to me. I would even be willing to volunteer to send them all out, if necessary.

Well I am fine with either way of doing it.  But if the group decides that this way is better and you need someone, then I am also a very willing volunteer.  smile.gif

I think this sounds like a great idea!

I also had the thought that we could sandwich the bead in a few cotton balls and then wrap it with tape so it all stays together.  Kind of like a cotton cocoon for the bean to live in during transport.  I think that would be cheaper than buying padded envelopes for each one.  But I guess it won't be an issue if we're going to send all the beads at once to one distributor.

I would be happy to distribute them as well, but I'd love to make sure we each knew which bead came from whom...And, if a person wanted to send different beads to different people, That should be noted as well, which could be done with little plastic baggies or whatever for each bead + shipping cost sent in the package to the chosen distributor. Part of the fun in shopping for beads, for me, is the vast selection and ability to personalize a bit. Any thoughts?
Otherwise, I'm happy to just send em out one by one.

I haven't been around much but I'd live to participate!  It would be nice to be a part of this!

I think little baggies with a personal note inside (if wanted) would  be a lovely way to personalize it, while still cutting down on the costs for everyone. That way the volunteer re-mailer can just put together the beads with each person's name in the same envelope, but it is still nice when it arrives to see who sent which bead, and read any note/explanation that is attached too.
