13 month old- now refuses bottled breastmilk when I'm away, what to give?

DD has been taking a bottle of pumped breastmilk from DH since I went back to work when she was 6 weeks old. She's never had a problem with it and I breastfeed her exclusively when were together. She also still nurses a couple times in the night as well.

Now, for about 2 weeks she has been refusing breastmilk from DH. He tried different batches, just in case it was the flavor of the frozen. Even when I pumped right before I left, she did'nt want it. He's tried bottle, sippy cup, warm and cold. He also tried making a smoothie with it. No go.

She likes coconut anything, including milk, so I got this

for her to have today in a sippy cup while I'm gone.

I also gave her some of this before I left

She eats a variety of things in addition to her usual milk and BF routine.

Do you think it's necessary for her to have the breastmilk while I'm away?, even though she's still BFing with me? Should we give her formula for those times? A couple of times when we have run our of BM, she's had the Toddlers Only Organic Soy one.

By the time my son was that age, he was pretty much refusing pumped milk, too - only wanted it from the tap. We just let him eat whatever food dh served him and drink water. We didn't do any milk substitute. He nursed plenty when we were together.

Thank you :)

I was thinking that because she eats plenty and nurses with me that she's doing fine.

I just want to be sure she was getting enough fat, so I thought the coconut milk would help with that.

I wonder what made her decide to give up the bottled BM.

dd quit around that age too, and i was SO happy to quit pumping.  she still nurses all night though.

My DS did the same at 11m and after some work, SAHD got him to transition to a straw cup. He was able to use it until 19m so I was glad.

I'd probably keep trying a bit longer. 13m is so young

The coconut milk was a no go yesterday. She had a few sips and that was that. She loves it every now and again, but was'nt interested in replacing a bottle with it.

The pumping thing crossed my mind. I was secretly giddy for a bit. However, I don't want to stop all pumping sessions, because I'm afraid my supply will go down. I still want to have plenty of milk for her when I'm at home. Maybe instead of twice per day, I'll do one.

DH has kind of given up on it, but I want him to try again in a couple of days. I would be worried if she was'nt nursing when I'm home, but since she's still loving to nurse when we're together, i may be ok with her not having breastmilk while I'm out. I agree that 13 months is too young for no breastmilk at all.

We also had luck with a Green Sprouts straw cup around one year. Dd refused a bottle or sippy cup of pumped milk before that, but she likes the straw cup. Our ped recommended only giving her pumped milk in the straw cup so she doesn't only want it for water.

How long are you gone for? Is she eating solids yet?

I'm thinking it's just that she does'nt want the breastmilk from any other source now. With other drinks and water, she uses regular cup, sippy cup, straw...

Most days, 8 hrs.

She eats solids. More with me than DH, but now I've been telling him to offer her more solids since she's been refusing the bottle.

before recently, with him she would have a couple of bottles of breastmilk and then food in between. With me, she nurses on demand and then eats pretty much what I eat.

Yeah she should be fine for those times. Just make sure he offers her food and a range of liquids, which you say he is doing anyway :)
