Hello from San Diego!

Hi all...

I've been 'lurking' for a while and it's probably time to introduce myself to you all.  I am glad to have found these forums...MDC seems like a really positive, supportive place. :)

My hubby and I are expecting our first baby at the end of July (I'm in week 26 now!) and we're incredibly excited. We aren't finding out the sex of the baby until he/she is born, and although it's driving my family insane, we're loving the suspense :) 

My hubby is finishing his last semester of law school, and I work for a small non-profit in the field of animal welfare. We are getting pretty nervous about finances since hubby is unable to work right now due to school, and I am certainly not raking it in in the non--profit sector. He's trying diligently to find a job, however, because of our due date, he will be unable to take the Bar exam (which is really not making his job search any easier!!!). Timing, eh? My EDD is the same day he is supposed to take the exam.

Welcome and congrats on your first baby!  From my experience, things with the job will fall into place the way that they need, too.  Not saying your DH is going to land his dream job before baby is born but it just seems that things have a way of working themselves out.  I'm sure you will all have what you need to start off with and that is what is most important.

What are your delivery plans and have you joined an MDC due date club?  If you go down to the "I'm Pregnant" section you can join a DDC with women who are all due the same month as you.  Then after baby is born you guys follow each other with a due date thread in the baby section.  It is a lot of fun and also it is nice to have discussions with woman going through the same place in life as you.  Good luck with your little belly and good luck with hubby's job search!  I hope he is able to pass the bar the first time!

Hello and thanks for the note! 

Yes, we are hoping things fall into place in time...but there's nothing we can do but keep positive (and try to save $$ ahead of time)!

We are planning a home birth, and are really excited about it! We have a fabulous team of midwives and a doula, and plan to have a few very close family/friends present at the birth as well. 

I have been reading the July 2011 due date club - but is there a way I "join" the group as well?

Just post introducing yourself and then post in reply to others after that.  You can also post asking questions to see if anyone is having a similar experience to yours.  In my due date club they took down everyone's stats like due date, sex of baby (if known), etc and listed it in a sticky thread.  I have had three homebirths in San Diego.  We have a great homebirth community here, at least in my opinion.  I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a wonderful birth.  The homebirth forum here would be good for you, too.
