proving/stating religious exemption for vaccinations to public school in CT

Hi all,

wondering what type of paperwork you gave to the school (or the school required of you) for your non-vaccinated child to state exemption (religious, unless you have medical, which would be from the doctor).  thanks for any input!

It is very easy in CT.  Just tell the school that you have religious objections to the practice of vaccinating. They will hand you a form that you put your child's name on and sign your name.  Nothing to prove and no church to belong to.  On the school health form for the pedi to fill out, just cross off the vaccination area.  Easy peazy.   You do have to re-sign the form each year, but there should be no hassle (unless your child attends a private school).

Thank you very much! I was planning on calling the school tomorrow, but you never know who you are going to speak to and how agreeable they are going to be.  I wanted to be prepared with what to expect! :)

We homeschool now but DS was in public school for 2 years. I printed the state form here:

http://www.sde.ct.gov/sde/lib/sde/PDF/deps/student/health/Religious_Exemption.pdf

We filled it out and handed it in and no one questioned us, and that was in 2 different school districts. In fact, it is illegal for the school the question your beliefs or anything about your reasons for exempting them from vaccines.

Would you happen to know any details on a private country club (summer camp) refusing my son for being unvaccinated?  He's been in a private Montessori school for 7 years and no problems!!!  Now this irked.gif

It's my understanding that private institutions can do whatever they want- they don't legally have to accept any exemption forms they can just flat out deny you.

Thanks so much, we'll go down there on Monday and personally hand them the State of CT form and see what happens...

Just an FYI for my situation:  I went down there and handed them the State of CT Religious Exemption form w/both my & my husband's signatures.  They called 3 days later and let us know that he's in!!  So happy, but how frustrating.
