broke yesterday afternoon.  So, because I'm not in active labor yet, even though I am having lots of contractions I am drinking castor oil.  This should get things moving hopefully...

Good luck!!!  You could try acupressure too.  If you haven't actually drank the castor oil yet I would go for acupuncture first.  Castor oil is nasty stuff.  Hoping your baby arrives quickly and easily :)

Woohoo! I hope this does the trick for you! I had awful prodromal labor for 4 weeks with DD, but the water breaking is a good sign - is it a leak or is it really gushing?

yesterday afternoon it was a trickle that went to a gush and then back to trickling - depending on the position I'm in and if baby's head is corking the flow lol

I feel silly, I had no idea it could take so long b/w water breaking and labor.  With DD my water broke with meconium in the fluid so the OB had me go straight in to the hospital and after 5 hrs of light cxs I was given pitocin greensad.gif.  I worry now if it breaks with clean fluid, would they still have me hurry in?

what I was told was because it was clear fluid and bc I dont gave group b strep that as long as I was in active labor within 24 hrs we were good.  what was holding me back was an extra fore bag of waters.  After that it flew!

FWIW, I was "allowed" by my midwife to stay home after my water broke and it was stained with mec. My water broke (a leak, really not a gush), I didn't start Cx for 4 hrs, I labored for 30 more hrs at home before finally going to the hospital (transferred for non-progression). He was born 36 hrs after my water broke.... Point being, the doc/hospital may tell you to come right in, but in my experience it isn't necessary. Our son was born perfectly healthy! smile.gif

thanks mamas, that's good to know!

often overdue babies will have some staining wont they? i think i read that somewhere. my midwife agreed 24 hrs to start labor, then 24 to have baby minus fever. so 48 hrs from water breaking
