OB in Rockford, IL?

Just like with everything else, I'm starting my research early.  We're moving to Rockford in June, with tentative plans to start TTC in the Dec/Jan time frame.  I'd love to have a doctor chosen before then, if possible.  My only catch is going to be my insurance.  To get full coverage, I'll have to stay within the Swedish American health system.  What does that mean?  No midwives.  :(  I know there are good OBs out there who will be as supportive of natural birth as a midwife and I hope one of them works for SA!  If it comes down to it, I can go outside the SA system, but will have less coverage.

So... any recommendations for OBs in the Rockford, IL area, either for good ones or for which ones to avoid? It'd probably also be good to get recommendations for midwives, too, if we do choose to follow that path.

Dr Arturo Manas is a kind and compassionate OB with Swedes who truly cares about his patients. He does like to induce and do episiotomies esp with first time moms BUT I have a feeling if you knows you are against either, he is not unreasonable. Truly a nice guy!

Have also heard excellent things about Dr Priya Saberwhal (sp?) and Dr Cunningham.

I've received MANY recommendations for Dr. Cunningham from fellow nurses as well as people from the community, so I think I'm going try him first.  I should be calling this coming week to set up that first appt and work on getting the ball rolling for when I'm ready for this IUD to come out and start TTC.

I personally had a really bad experience with Dr. Cunningham...he was almost forceful with his beliefs and not agreeing with some of mine.  I ended up going to OBGYN Associates and LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Richard Field.  He is so thoughtful, and caring...and his credentials are STELLAR.  Might want to give him a try.  I also first went to Dr. Stephenson when we moved here and he had no bedside manner, and even though I was a patient for years, he totally didn't even try to get to know me.  Try a doc at OBGYN Associates...I was really happy.

Unfortunately, I don't thnk OGA is covered under my insurance. greensad.gif I have an appt with Cunningham next month for a combo annual/preconception/IUD removal. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes well.
