how to make the crack more comfy? twin and double together.

We are expecting another child in November. Right now dd sleeps between us. She will not sleep on the crack. My dh is on the twin bed and when she snuggles up to him she crowds him over on that little twin bed. I think if the crack wasn't so noticable she would sleep on it and it would give us all a little more space for when number 2 arrives. King sheets do not fit so how would you cover what ever padding I use? I could use egg crate foam, but i don't know how to cover the egg crate foam since the king sheets don't fit?

We have two twins pushed together, and I know the crack can be unbearable wink1.gif

What I did, was buy a padded mattress protector, but your bed is a little too big for that!

Can you possibly use rope or bungee cords to tie the frames together? Not sure how safe that would be for cosleeping, but if you could find a way to make sure the rope stays around the mattresses, I think it would work!

Sorry I couldnt be of more help!

eta: ooh! I found a great thread on it here on Mothering! http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/738555/two-mattresses-pushed-together-close-the-gap

We were thinking about getting one of these http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=12184352 , and DD, 4 at the time, decided her own room was cooler.

Thanks to you both! Maybe i should make my question more clear. I have researched and have seen crack fillers and such...also the bungy cords. My mattresses are on the floor so it isn't that they separate. My problem is that my mattresses are too big for king sheets. Even if i got a crack filler, I still need to cover it some how. I would love to have a great big padded mattress cover with a fitted sheet so that i could cover the crack filler. Or if i got the egg crate foam I still need a huge cover/sheet that would fit a twin and a double pushed up together. The only thing i can think to do is use a king flat sheet and pin it to the four corners of the bed. I'm thinking that it may rip either the sheet or the mattress once we lay on it or dd jumps on it.

We have a queen with a sidecarred crib, and a baby or a mommy has to sleep on the crack. So I got the BB&B bed bridge and cut it short, to the length of the crib. BUt of course, there's no custom sheet to fit over the bed bridge, right? So I  just put the fitted sheets on my mattress and on the crib mattress. Lie the foam down, then take another flat sheet and lie it atop the foam + crib. A flat sheet folded in quarters covers the foam and most/all of the crib. So there's some sheet overlap, and it shifts around, and rolls up, and it's not perfect. But it does the job.

Maybe you could use those thingies that are supposed to hold sheets onto the mattress?

Maybe something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Sheet-Suspender-sheets-smooth-tight/dp/B0014AMBWK

Oooh! Thanks for the ideas Shana. I didn't think anyone else was going to post on my thread. Yay! Going to try it!

You could buy 2 sheets that fit (one for each bed) and seam them together to have a new custom size sheet. It will have a seam down the 'crack', but will be much smoother & look like one big sheet :)

Take a look at flat sheets. Maybe even Cali king. There is even an Alaskan king that is like 9x9. Then just use some sort of bed clip like pp. I used plastic ones with a knob
