looking for advice on night weaning our bed sharing twins. Â they are 18 months but developmentally delayed (more like 14-15 months; they don't stand independently or walk-yet). Â things were great until they were 9 months and i couldn't tandem in bed anymore (though we can during the day). Â we haven't slept more than 2 hours in a row since then. Â most nights i'm up every hour nursing someone. Â if they wake at the same time then dad takes one downstairs and gives her a bottle if he can't snuggle her back to sleep but it always involves a lot of screaming. Â we're going crazy w/sleep exhaustion (it's particularly bad right now w/our "good sleeper" teething--this week we've cobbled together about 4 hours sleep a night). Â i night weaned our oldest at 22 months-it wasn't easy but nothing compared to what it will be like w/2.
Â
my biggest concern about weaning is that they won't understand (they wouldn't get "when the sun comes up" like my older one did) and that they are hungry in the middle of the night (last night one took a 4 oz bottle from dad after nursing on me for 20 minutes. Â they ALWAYS want the full meal deal, it's never a nibble at night). Â that and we've "trained" them to scream until they get the boob.
Â
advice? Â do we try one at a time w/dad taking the baby and giving bottles or do both at the same time?
