advertisement for a baby bottle company?!

Playtex is advertising their products and a new forum on the right-hand side of my screen.

Should something be done about that?

I was wondering the same thing myself.

if you use firefox with no-script and adblock plus you won't see the advertisements. i'm not sure if i should say that or not, since i know that ad revenue is important.

mods let me know if i need to delete!

We do not host ads for bottles. If you can give me more info about the ad (URL, screenshot) we'll get it removed. Thanks for the report! thumb.gif

I was just coming to ask about this too! I'm in Canada and it's obviously coming from here as the tagline is "from Playtex, #1 infant feeding brand in Canada". It appears when I'm on the main Community page for Mothering, both on the right hand side box ad and in the top banner. It links through to the following: http://playtexmommyville.ca/learnmore.aspx although there is a URL that appears very briefly before that, but I can't get it all as it disappears too fast!

I'll report this to our advertising staff. Thanks!

So, I can only assume my the continued presence of the advertisement in question that Mothering.com thinks it is okay to support advertisements from baby-bottle companies, and that it's good business to allow advertisements for similar style parenting forums by said company. Or, phrased differently "like Motheringdotcom? Come and listen to the other side of the story at the Playtex forums!"

Have I assumed correctly?

No you have not. I haven't see the ad myself and we can only act on reports if we don't see the ad.

The earlier reported ad was removed but it may have again come in from another network. We'll check and get it blocked.

FYI: on my end it never left. It's nearly permanent. If my computer wasn't so old I would attach daily screenshots.

Many ads are geotargetted. Sometimes advertisers will pay only for certain areas. This one is definitely a Canadian ad but could be in other areas as well.

Yes, you can report the Crystal Light ads. I'll pass it on to the advertising dept. too. :)
