What's your LO's favourite book?

I'm looking to get a couple of new books sometime soon.

What books does your LO love to read over and over? Best bedtime book?

My DS loves How do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?  and How do Dinosaurs say Goodnight? (Yolen & Teague). They are great rhyming books and the pictures are simply amazing- beautiful, hilarious, and multicultural! DS loves exploring the pictures and looking at every detail.

He also likes Brown Bear, Brown Bear and lately he loves ALPHABET (touch and feel) by matthew van fleet.

Callahan loves:

Pat the Bunny (I hate it though and refuse to read "Judy's book" because it is so crappy) I think he just loves Touch and Feel books so I am actually shopping online for some more for his birthday right now.

All Eric Carle and Bill Martin books

Sandra Boynton books

The Monster at the End of The Book - this was on of my favourite books as a child, it has Grover in it

DD's absolute favorite is Dear Zoo.  It's a lift-the-flap book, and she loves lifting the flaps while I make animal noises.

The only downside is the flaps are a little flimsy, so I'd imagine we'll have to get a replacement one soon...

DS is not so content to sit and listen to a story as this involves stopping moving, so when I say his "favorite" books are Are You My Mother? and Jamberry I mean these are the only ones he'll actually consent to being read.  We also do pretty good with The Big Red Barn.

Jamberry & The Big Red Barn are in rhyme, I would say of the three The Big Red Barn is the best bedtime book since it ends when all the animals go to sleep.

Tubby, by Leslie Patricelli, is a HUGE hit around here.  Embarrassingly, Baby Mickey Takes a Nap is next in line (thank you, in-laws), and My Many Colored Days (Dr. Seuss, art museum board book version).

Ooo, yes!  Jamberry is a favorite around here.  Also Tumble Bumble (although I think DH likes it even more than DD!)

Another good nighttime one that DD likes is Snuggle up, Sleepy Ones--all the animals go to sleep in that one, too.

Max's favorite is Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings by Matthew Van Fleet. Each picture has a different color, texture, shape and animal. He loves flapping open the page to see the animals, and running his finger over the textures.

We read Goodnight Moon (the board book version) every night before bed, but he rarely sits still through it. Sometimes I nurse him while reading it just to get through it. I'm hoping he enjoys it more as he gets a little older. It was my favorite as a girl.

We have other books, but those two are the main ones we look at for now.

His absolute favorite is "the Little Blue Truck", its nice to read, good lessons ( being kind and helping others, and small people (or frogs in this case) can make a big difference), sound words like "beep, splash....". If he hears the first line he makes a b-line for us

He also loves brown bear brown bear, ours has little flaps to see the next animal and he loves to open them!

Francesca loves Ten Little Ladybugs - the pages have little three dimensional ladybugs that she finds truly fascinating. This is always the one she pulls off the bookshelf first.

She also goes for a cloth version of Are You My Mother, Dr. Suess's Oh, Baby! Go, Baby!, and a book called baby!talk! that shows lots of babies doing baby things. The "Indestructable" books are great too - they feel like paper but are truly indestructable.

I think my favorite's out of her books are Papa Please Get the Moon For Me, and I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean.

J's favourites are Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes and Night Noises, both by Mem Fox and Sea Animals (Touch, Feel and Hear) and Noisy Animals both of which have buttons to press which make animal noises. She's 11 months old.

"Ten Little Ladybugs" is Zoey's favorite too! She likes to sit in my lap and run her fingers over the ladybugs. She also likes the way the words rhyme. She knows by the cadence of my voice when it's time to turn the page and can do it herself now like a big girl!

Some other favorites are:

"Guess How Much I Love You"

"Where is Baby's Belly Button"

"Eight Silly Monkeys"

"The Hungry Caterpillar"

and

"Moo, Baa, La-La-La"

Lots of good recommendations! Thanks!

I'm definitely going to get Jamberry - the reviews here and on amazon sound like something DS would love. Ten LIttle Ladybugs might also hold DS's attention since he is so into touch n feel type books now.

I'm also going to get this Airplane touch n feel book to get my DS ready for our 14 hour plane trip in June.
