We have guests visiting this weekend, so I've had all these little projects in the back of my mind for organizing/tidying our house before they get here. So far I've:
--Moved the furniture around in DS's room and cleaned/organized the whole thing
--Same thing in DD's room
--Hung pictures and shelves in both kids' rooms
--Moved the modem, router, and phone to a less visible location in the master bedroom so that there's only 1 visible wire (my laptop's cord) behind the desk
--Organized all the Easter and birthday party supplies so that things will go smoothly over the weekend, being able to quickly grab what we need when we need it instead of having to dig around for various things
--Cleaned the house really well from top to bottom
--Decluttered the house, so there are no piles of paper or anything else that shouldn't be there on flat surfaces
--Went through the kids' clothes and donated all the stuff they've outgrown
--Went through all the kids' books, put all the spring/Easter-themed ones in a basket in the living room, and donated any duplicates I found
--Bought collage frames for the entry way and filled them with family photos from throughout the generations on both sides
--Put out a few simple Easter decorations (an egg wreath, a bowl filled with papier-mache eggs, a few crafts the kids made)
--Washed the guest bedding and towels so they'll smell nice and fresh
--Bought all the groceries for the weekend so my guests won't have to spend time coming to the store with me.
Phew! I've been wiped out every evening, but it feels awesome to have been so productive. I only have one project left: cleaning out the 4 toy bins that we keep downstairs. I want to make sure all the things that are supposed to go together, are together (like making sure all the doctor toys are in the doctor kit, etc.) so that it's easy for the kids to play. I'm sure there are also lots of broken toys or toys that the kids never play with, so we'll be tossing or donating those and making room for the new toys DD will get for her birthday.
What cleaning projects have you been doing this week?
