We love pizza over here and are actually having some for dinner. I'm going to be experimenting with a whole wheat crust and plan on putting some broiled eggplant slices on top. Others we have made include:
Â
Sausage, Peppers, Onions, and Mushrooms
Â
I believe each link has a different crust recipe and they were all good, it just depends on what you are in the mood for.
SpuglyRoo, thanks for the links for the different pizza ideas. The salad pizza is one I may just have to make!Â

Sol y Paz, artichokes in tomato sauce sounds delicious! How I loooove artichokes!

And I should add regarding herbs on pizza, for part of a wedding gift we received (15 years ago -- yikes!) was a small terra cotta pot with dried "pizza herbs". I wish I knew the mix, because it was so good on pizza! It must have had basil, though...hmmm....
You're welcome! Your herb mix may have also had Oregano, I use that on my pizzas a lot. I sprinkle it on top of the sauce but under the cheese so it is sandwiched in the middle. Some people also use parsley, thyme, or rosemary. Was this a seed mix that you grew? You could try looking up images of the growing plants and see if they look similar.Â
We really like simple authentic Italian pizza. Basic dough (flour, water, salt, yeast), for sauce just simply crushed, canned San Marzano tomatoes (not cooked), and fresh mozzarella. Top with fresh basil and that's it. This is how they serve it in Italy and it's by far our favorite. From there, I also like the quattro formaggi, with gorgonzola, fontina, parmigiano reggiano, and mozarella cheeses. Dh likes the Napoli, with capers, anchovies and olives. Another favorite is with prosciutto and peas. The key is that everything is fresh, fresh, fresh.
I don't like these cooked sauces with lots of herbs and spices. I did before going to Italy and Malta, but now these fresh Italian pizzas have spoiled me for life. If you've never tried a very simple pizza like this, I encourage you to try it.

I bet you're right. I think there was oregano, parsley, thyme and rosemary in the mix, with basil. It sure was yummy.

velochic -- I fondly remember the pizzas I ate in Italy. They were delicious, much better than anything I've had here before or since.  I will have to try the San Marzano tomatoes!
Â
Shantimama, I've heard of many things on pizza, but never thought of freshly ground pepper!! My kids loooove pepper on everything, so they may like that!Â
Â
Peace!  Â

Well, that seems easy enough! I don't have a kitchen-aid, though, but I kinda like kneading dough, so it's all good! Thanks!
