What do you do with your children's old clothes/toys?

Thanks.

Garage sale!

If they're usable, I'll hand them off to someone I know. If they don't want them, I give them to Goodwill or Salvation army. I've got a box of stuff for consignment, if I ever get it there before my kids outgrow consignment sizes!

Toys sell fairly well at garage sales, but my kids' clothes didn't (even though I had them really cheap -- like 50 cents for a pair of jeans).

I hate having garage sales so I usually give them away.

We do a clothing swap with friends. It's worked out quite nicely- we don't have to buy boy clothes a d they don't have to buy girl clothes!

I should've elaborated in my original post that I want to give it someone needy. We know someone whose dd is 4 months younger but a size smaller, who had asked for dd's clothes. (Just to add, they r far from needy but it is being recycled and that's a good thing.) I visited a Salvation army store and found the prices a little high for people who might be hard up. A church I know that accepts old clothes also sells them. Ok, so my question is that I donate them on Craigs List. But I wonder if they are reusing or reselling and my doctor told me to be careful if they are coming to our place. (He and I end up talking about kids because he loves to talk about his grandkids.) Does anyone know of any organization that gives them for free. Thks.

P.S. I forgot to say that the friend at some point started to want clothes that said they were her dd's size. Like, 4T or whatever, even though sometimes some cos. make bigger sizes and a size smaller would have fitted her dd perfectly, since my dd had just outgrown them. So, I didn't want to worry about her needs too much and just started donating.

You don't say where you are??? you might want to check with your local tribe

in our area- there are women & children shelters that take them (some churches may also know and you might better know that they are really going how you want them to go)

SOME (not all) "thrift" (sal. & GWill) do resell them overseas

I would sooner find a place that really will give them and not use GList
