i would just go for simply Nehem as the name.  but i'm pretty out there too, and i don't know the connotations/associations for the full name.

I agree. Simpler. Nehemaus would give me pause because I'd associate it with Nehemiah and feel like it was spelled "wrong"... and I can see people trying to spell it Nehemeus or Nehemeaus, or pronouncing it wrong ("nee-uh-MAY-us"? "nee-uh-MY-us"? "nee-hah-MAY-us"? "nee-hah-MY-us"?). Nehem (or Neham or even Niam!), rhyming with Liam, is kinda cute though.

I love it! It goes perfectly with your other son's name, and it is unique yet will fit right it next to the overpopular "Liam".

I think it's beautiful. It was pretty common where I went to middle school, so I had classes with a couple Nehems and Nahums and other spelling variants.

Seili - when I was a teenager we lived in Calgary, Canada, in a neighbourhood that was predominantly Middle Eastern immigrants of a variety of religious backgrounds. I realized after re-reading your post that the name I'm thinking of, "Nahum" or "Nehum" is a little different - it was always pronounced Nay-hum or Nay-hem, so it didn't rhyme with Liam. I did look it up, though, and the name I'm thinking of is still derived from Nehemiah.

As an aside - I have a good friend name Emmis, which I think is lovely/has nice mouth feel/decent nicknaming potential.
