Which OP test do I believe?

We are trying for #2, but my husband isn't that enthusiastic about the trying part.   I usually only get one shot at BD with DH.  He is stressed, tired and says that when he comes it is like loosing a pint of blood.  He is nearing 50 too, so slowing down a bit. irked.gif

That means that I need to make sure that we time things as well as possible.  I usually O around day 14-16.  I've been using OP test strips to figure out the best timing and we usually dtd within 24 hours of the positive.  No luck yet, though.  I think we end up trying a day or two before O (still well in the fertile window, though), so I'm thinking we need to try our best to get right on the O day.

So this cycle I ended up with two types of tests.  My drug store didn't have the usual dip in a cup kind that are the cheapest, so I got a store brand pee on the stick kind.  Then later that day at another store I found the dip kind and bought that thinking I'd take the others back.

But today, just for the fun of it I decided to try them both.  I have EW much earlier than usual (I'm on CD 10) so I started testing.  The cheaper ones gave me a negative (but obvious second line, just not darker than the test line).  Then when I used the pee on the stick ones I got a very clear positive.

I was really hoping that I had another few days since DH is not in shape for BD tonight or tomorrow.  He was thinking it would be next Monday or Tuesday.

I just can't imagine that I'm going to O so early this cycle.  I wish that DH was more up to this and we could just try every day that I show fertile signs.  But I'm lucky to get two shots at it in a cycle, so we really have to pin point the best time.  With our ages (I'm just about 40) I just think that we need to be more aggressive about this, but I also need to respect DH's needs.

So, should I believe the cheaper sticks and suspect that they may show positive tomorrow and we could BD on Sunday?  Or should we try for tomorrow?

Thanks!

I'm no help with OPK advice, but I am wondering about your other fertile signs.  EW on CD10 is quite early... do you usually have several days of EW or just one or two?  Do you check your cervix?  It could really help you pinpoint if you're high, soft and open AND have EW and OPK is positive.  Do you temp to confirm ovulation?  If I had to I would vote for Sunday... but definitely go with your gut!

Yes, it does seem early to me too.  But cervix is high and soft.  I'm temping, so I will be able to tell for sure after the fact.  Looking back over my past charts, sometimes I can have as many as 4 EW days before O, but this is still pretty early to show all of the signs.  But I've also been feeling a little bit of cramping too, so it really feels like I am close.  I think that what usually happens is that I start to get my fertile signs and then we jump in too early with BD and then my DH doesn't want to do more after that one shot.  I am just always afraid that we will wait too late, but then I end up a bit too early by being so eager.   But now with two different OPK results, it makes me more nervous to wait too long if it is truly positive today.

Still, I think that your vote for Sunday is wise.  I don't know that I've ever been earlier than CD 13 or 14, and Sunday would put me only at CD 12.

This would be so much easier if DH was just willing to DTD throughout the fertile window!  It is really frustrating.

Looks like I missed it.  greensad.gif

I have been trying to imagine that they test were really strong but not quite positive.  But based on my body signs it seemed really strong.

This morning (Sunday) the tests are clearly negative, CM has dried up and my temp jumped up this morning.

I am so angry.  If only DH wasn't so resistant to BD, we could have tried when I had the strong signs instead of having to wait for the one best shot.  I feel really really angry and sad.  Maybe #2 just isn't meant to be for us....

Oh, so sorry!  That's seriously early ovulation!  Take heart, though, next cycle you'll be prepared for what your body is doing.  When you get those positives, are HSO, and have EW, just go for it that day.  And if you happen to get a second shot, great!  If not, at least you got one good shot in.  Those sperm will last for days in nice EW CF.  Maybe even try orgasming by yourself the second day if you still have EW- giving those swimmers a little boost up into the uterus.  Just a thought...  lol.gif

Sorry for the bad advice about waiting until Sunday!  But if you do get the chance to DTD today, it's not out of the realm of possibility... the egg is in there for 24 hours, maybe you can still catch it.
