Can I make these without milk?

Is there something non-dairy I could substitute for the milk in these burger buns? http://smittenkitchen.com/2009/07/light-brioche-burger-buns/

The butter I can sub coconut oil easily.

If not, do you have a great dairy free burger bun recipe? It's for a party, and I'm just fine with white or whole wheat, as long as it's fairly easy and yummy.

I've subbed in almond milk, rice milk or coconut in a similar recipe!  Enjoy!

Liquid of choice. Water would do fine for the sake of the mechanics of the recipe. They just call for milk because of the flavor.

Oh good. I was worried about having to get a liquid with a similar amount of fat and such.

Rule of thumb (for baked goods only) is that if iT calls for cream, you need to sub a fat. If it calls for milk, you can sub water. If it calls for evap milk, that one's more of a pain. Its just a matter of how that particular liquid interacts w the flour in the development of gluten.
