question about day to start first round of clomind with LOOOng cycles.

hello all, 

iv hit the 14 month mark of ttc so were starting clomid this cycle.   the ob doesnt want to do testing for hormone leves because "i already have to kids and im sure everything just needs a little boost" *sigh*  i know...i agree with you. but in a small town, i kind just go with it, and after this cycle i can say..."see didnt work..now draw some blood". ;)

so with that in mind (no knowing my hormone levels or what is causing the long cycles) 

i have a clear temp shift an all the ovulation signs (checking CM and CP as well) at CD 20-25 every single month.  

so my question is: what day do i start the clomid? CD 5 like everyone seems to sugest? CD8 like the crazy doctor suggests?  or later because my hormones obviously arnt ramping up till later in my cycle to trigger ovulation. 

any help would be great!

Hmmm, never heard of clomid that late, why does he say day8?  My OB has always had me take it starting on day 5, and I have heard of it earlier like day 4 but not that late.  I would think that the clomid would help you O earlier in your cycle?  I am the opposite, I tend to get +OPK's earlier without clomid, but right on day 14-15 with it.  So is your LP long enough with an O that late?

this doctor also told me that "no matter what, a woman always ovulates 14 days before her period starts"  and i said what abotu a LPdefect? he said it doens matter....14 days is always true. 

so i kind just ignore most of what he said. ;)   

and my LP is on the short side, but long enough ...10-12 days. 

i started it today CD3, so well see if it helps move the o date up. :)

I have long cycles too.  The first time with clomid I took it CD 5-9 (didn't ovulate - normally I do just really late).  The other 5 times I took clomid was CD 3-7 and I always ovulated on day 16 or 17.
