Cervix checkers: what's up? - Page 2

Last night I tried to check again and could juuuuuust barely touch it with two fingers. With three I could easily feel into the lip and realized my cervix was so stretchy I could actually pull it forward to feel how dilated it was with absolutely zero discomfort... so weird! It's VERY soft, easily stretchy and quite thin. At least 70-80% effaced and a stretchy 2-3cm dilated. And the most awesome part?... I felt the baby's head. :) She's so skinny! There's no fat on her head at all! No wrinkles!

How cool!  I felt this morning and baby was really LOW.  By far the lowest yet, but ironically not hurting my pelvic bone as much as normal.  However, I have needed to pee about every 30 seconds all day!

Ugh!  I try and try, with my last two DDs, but I can never even reach it.  It's so frustrating...just because I want to feel her head or something!  HA!  Oh well, I will try to remember to do it after labor begins this time so that maybe I can feel her :)  My cervix is just SO high...lol...oh well!

I did manage to get it after all! Thought I hadn't before. Soft, maybe fingertip dilated, and still pretty long. I'm 34 wks now so not being dilated is ok really.

i just checked mine and it's between 4 and 5 cm, i'm sure...
i felt her head too! didn't feel any wrinkles though. i didn't want to accidentally sweep my membranes so i didn't poke around too much :P

I can fit my middle finger (I have skinny fingers) in, so possibly a little more than 1 cm. Not effaced in the slightest.

Isn't it AMAZING to feel the baby's head?! I will never get tired of the awe...

And yes, membrane sweeping : if you are very, very gentle and use tiny, soft, exploratory touches without deeply probing... you're good. :) Membrane sweeping involves some pretty heavy duty stretching open, forcing and prying; that's why it's often painful to have done. You'd also notice some contractions, discomfort or even spotting following that.

To be on the safe side: use touches light enough that you can't feel with your cervix, and do not try to force fingers into a closed os. Think of it like reading braille! If you're touching any harder than you would to read braille, that's too hard.

checked a couple days ago. so soft and gushy i can barely tell what's what. but i am pretty sure i couldn't reach the cervix. and didn't feel a head, either. that would be so awesome!

Super soft here.  So soft that it doesnt really even keep shape when I touch it.  About 1 to 2 cm dilated on the outside but only a fingertip on the inside.  It did that last time too, lol.

I'm 34 weeks and can't find mine. It's MIA!  I think I'll wait a couple more weeks before I try again.

I still can't reach mine! I wonder if I need a different angle or something... I've never had such a hard time reaching my cervix before.

When I had mine checked on Friday--- the nurse was literally on top of me straining with all of her night to find mine. I don't know why it is so hard to reach, but every time it is PAINFUL and lets me know that I could NEVER find it on my own haha. I'm a small girl too, I guess I just assumed that it would make it easier to get too.... obviously NOT.

Checked today because of so much pressure down in that general area.  I am definately more effaced than a few days ago.  I was super long then.  About a third shorter now.  I have no clue how dilated 2 fingers is.  Its been so long since I have done checked for dilation.   I could only get a finger in  or so the other day and I guessed that was 1 cm or so.  Today i can get two fingers in and its stretchy.  Still closed more on the inside though so not sure it means much.  Wish all this pressure would go away though.  Lots of pinching of the cervix when walking and keep feeling like I have to go to the bathroom (number two) though I have already been so many times today.  Think things are progressing along.  Now just very neauseous.  Ugh, baby come soon.  Whenever you are ready that is.

I'm so jealous of those of you who can get a good feel of your cervix. Mine is reachable but barely. I know it's soft!

It took me two completed pregnancies to figure out how to do it! Don't feel too bad. :) By the time I got into my third I could figure it out, but it does take practice. FAM helped a lot.

Baby has suddenly dropped a bit and it's head is completely sitting on my pubic bone.  That happened about this time last pregnancy.  Cervix is up and behind the head now...again, same as last time.  It's making me think I have a solid six weeks to go....ugh.

The other day I could feel just the front edge of my cervix and it was super soft and squishy. If I press up through the vaginal wall I can feel his head! I just can't get a better angle to reach up there further and I'm not about to try sticking my whole hand in there either. LOL
