Should I pump and dump after "challenging" an allergen

DD is 6 weeks old.  Pediatrician suspected milk protein sensitivity and had me eliminate dairy for 2 weeks.  I did it for 3 and then challenged for the past 24 hours.  DD is now screaming/inconsolable on and off for the past 8 hours.  It seems fairly clear cut to me.

 

Question:  Should I pump & dump and have DH feed bottles from my freezer stash.  I pump every morning, so I have plenty of milk from the past 3 weeks when I had eliminated dairy.  If so, for how long would I need to do this?  I hate to cause her any additional discomfort, but I also don't want to mess up my supply or our otherwise great breastfeeding routine.

 

Thoughts?

For us, the first 12-24 hours of a reaction were the worst. So if you can make it through that, it should get better soon. hug2.gif I would be worried about hurting your supply this early, otherwise pumping and dumping would be a great idea.

You could pump and dump, but usually the worst is the first few nursings, and you've already done that.  Don't underestimate the comfort of the act of nursing for her, too, even with (and actually with) the allergic reaction. 

 

It was nice when dds were old enough to direct-challenge them, rather than trialing via my diet.  Their reactions were more obvious immediately, and I didn't have to worry about my milk while nursing to comfort them. 

 

dd1's dairy allergy was outgrown when she was around 20 months, and dd2's dairy allergy persisted until she was nearly three.
