Moving to the Yucatan... Need to know midwifery laws...

Hello, all!  My husband and I will be moving our family to the Yucatan to begin a church.  I have been a doula for a few years and have been apprenticing to be a midwife for a year.  I would like to practice in Mexico, but I am unable to find any laws or regulations on midwifery in Mexico.  Can anyone help?  A majority of my practice is going to be free as I want to help improve maternity care for area women. Any resources or information will be appreciated!

This is the link to what seems to be a wonderful midwifery training school called CASA in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.  I was looking into this myself some time ago.  I would imagine that someone there would be able to orient you as to the laws regarding midwifery in Mexico.  Good luck!

Hi, I Know this a late reply but  i just wanted to tell you what i think  , i live in mexico and i think there is no laws about that, its just a way of how many women do it here, since ancient times, very traditional thing. There could be something but not like in the US.

Some midwives study it some are just ancient tribe "grandmothers" that have that knowledge through generations, i guess.

Let me know if you still need to know, so i can ask my doula about that stuff.

Yeah there is no real laws about that. If you go to any villiage, alot of people still birth that way.
