"homemade" coconut milk

Do any of you know how to make coconut milk??  I'm looking at a can of coconut milk from my pantry and it has Sodium Metabisulfite  in it.  I have no idea what that is, but I do not want to feed it to my family.  I'm sure there are brands out there that don't have it, but I'd sure love to make it myself.  Anyone??
