Purple carrots

I'm looking for a purple carrot. DD had some on a salad last week and is obsessed, so I'd like to grow some it must be purple all the way through, not a purple/orange as we already have dragon carrots.

Have you grown one in the past? Recommendations? I see Territorial has one so I'm going to check if it's Monsanto-free. Any other good options out there?

Dragon carrots are the only ones I've grown. How cool purple all the way through would be, though! Let us know if you find some.

Great find! We grow cosmic purple each year, but they are orange on the inside. These look stunning. If you remember, post to let us know how this variety turned out.

Yes, my kids liked the Dragon carrots, but were disappointed that they were mostly orange once you sliced them. These are terrific!

I don't believe their are any monsanto purple carrots, this link will show you the seminis varieties, straight from the source:

The ones that are purple all the way through are some times called black.

I have some heirloom purple carrots I've saved seeds from and they've come back true to type.  I think I got them from Irish Eyes?  They're just the ones with the purple skin and orange inner though, not the straight up solid purple.  Either them, Territorial, or maybe even Baker Creek had them this year if I'm remembering correctly from all my catalogs.

Gotta say though, the yellow ones?  Oh my yum.  I think I got those from Irish Eyes as well at one point.  I like fun colorful stuff.  :D  Need to grow out my purple podded peas again, it's been a few years - those are always a hit with the kids.

Yellow are our favourite! and yellow beets too.  They are both sweet and don't stain :)

Generally the Purple Dragon are an heirloom that you could save true seed from and Cosmic Purple are an F1 hybrid.  They look exactly the same to me, both dark purple with a orange interior and there are other names for them too.
