Which baby gate for top of the stairs?

We are moving into a house very soon with a big steep staircase that has a wobbly railing! My 13 month old ds loves to climb it- needless to say I am right behind him, practically holding onto him the whole time! At any rate we need to install a baby gate at the top and bottom. I am thinking of getting the Evenflo top of the staurs gate:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004YMZE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p75_d0_i6?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=10KYMSP19KJR6CFCV6TC&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

because it looks like what I want and got good reviews on amazon.

has anyone used this? do you think it is safe enough for the top of the stairs?  I would love to have something so safe that I wouldn't have to be constantly watching ds every second that he crawls off while we are upstairs, knowing that if he got to the gate at the top of the stairs, it would be sturdy!

also- do I need to measure the width of the staircase or are they adjustable?

That one looks fine to me, we used and were very happy with this one.  If your little one is a climber, pay attentiion to how easy/hard it would be to climb the gate, since falling from the top of the gate could be a concern. The gates are adjustable, but only within a certain range.  That one you linked to says it goes from 28-42 inches.  I have some 27" doorways in my old house, so that could be an issue for me. It would work on the top of my stairs though.  It wouldn't work at the bottom of my stairs which are like 54 inches.  I have an extra wide gate for there.

That one looks good, the key point is that it is a mounted gate, as opposed to a pressure gate, for the top of stairs.
