How did your 2nd VBAC compare to your first VBAC?

I am 37w2d with baby #3. My first was an emergency c/s and I had my 2nd son by VBAC. I never dilated until close to 40 weeks each time and went into spontaneous labor at 40w5d and 40w4d. My first labor started out normal (woke up to full-blown labor, got to hospital 2 hours later at 4cm, then an hour after that I was 7cm, then DS went into distress where I needed a c/s.) My second labor had some complications bc I had an untreated/undiagnosed bladder infection/borderline kidney infection that put me into "labor" from 40 weeks up until I actually delivered him at 40w4d. However, once real labor started and my water was broken I went from 2cm-10cm in about 5 hours, pushed for over an hour when DS2 went into distress that facilitated a vacuum extraction. Not the best experience overall but I had my VBAC like I wanted and evyone was fine.

So now I'm ready to have our baby girl and at 36 weeks I was 1 1/2cm dilated and 0 effacement. Today at 37w2d I was 2cm dilated with 50% effacement (already what I was in "active" labor with #2). So I guess I'm wondering how your 2nd VBAC compared to your first in regards to length of pregnancy, length of labor etc....

And I know being dilated means "nothing" but it's still exciting nonetheless smile.gif

Personally, it was considerably easier.  That was probably due to the circumstances of the birth as much as it was my second vba2c.  My first vba2c was induced, at 37wks 1d with a foley cath and nipple stimulation due to blood incompatibility.  It ended up being over 40 hours from the time they placed the foley to birth and I got the epidural about 3 hours before he was born.  My second vba2c was a homebirth, went into labor spontaneously at 39wks 6d and she was born about 14 hours after the first contraction.  Really, only the last 20 or 30 minutes were really hard.  I hope this one is easier for you, too.

Thanks chanel! I hope so too. I also lost alot of blood following the delivery and almost needed a blood transfusion (I had a bleeder that they couldn't find). So I'm hoping for an easier labor and delivery this time around!
