Where My Crunchy Preschoolers At?

Thread Starter

I just started my DD in a new preschool (we moved) and its a coop, so I have to help.  But I'm nursing a 4 month old and when I stated I would need to bring him along on my days (just for half of April and May) I was told I couldn't.  I said, we were trying to get him to use the bottle and he was rejecting it.  I was told the problem was me and I needed to be really committed to no longer breastfeeding him.  ??? UH... not to mention they serve the kids nasty sugar snacks with dye-filled syrupy drinks.  I mean, these parents are NOTHING like me.  Talking about just letting their newborn cry themselves to sleep... gives me the willies.

Where are the preschools for us?  I have literally been looking since my daughter was 2 (shes now 4) for a crunchier preschool in the Baltimore area!  Am I doomed to deal with these insensitive and out of touch mommies I cant relate to forever?

HELP!!!

Did you find any type of cool preschool??  I was chuckling reading your write-up...not because I think your situation is funny, but because I feel like this sounds like something I would have totally written. I'm not searching for preschools (yet!!) and only have a 4 month old, and in so many different situations am finding myself trying to swallow the thought if I have to "deal with these insensitive and out of touch mommies I can't relate to forever"..

ahhh, best of luck! peace.gif

Are there any waldorf or montessori schools nearby? In my experience, the more alternative the teaching methods the crunchier the parents are. Good luck and I feel your pain, we just moved and I've yet to find anyone cloth diapering and nursing beyond a couple months.

I think the next best option is to find some crunchy mamas and do your own co-op preschool!
