First poatpartum Aunt Flo :(

I'm pretty sure she's back. I had some cramping last night and some lower back pain and then this morning saw some evidence. Is there anyway I can keep her away longer or not have her come back next month? Does it go back to normal after you have a baby or is it sporadic the first few months after? My son is 7 1/2 months and he nurses quite often as we've only just started to do BLW.

My 11 month old son nurses around the clock and always has - but I got my period back at 2 months post partum!! I guess we are all just different because my son never slept long stretches at night and nursed a lot in the day until about 8 months when he became more distracted but it didn't "protect" me.lol

Oh and mine have been fairly normal although I had one really bad one in there that I suspect may have been an early miscarriage (I have a history)

Mine came back at 5 months PP (work & pump full time but DS nurses a lot at night).  I used to have clockwork cycles and haven't had a regular one yet - first was 49 days, then 34 days, and I'm currently on cycle day 38 with no sign that AF is showing up any time soon.  So you may luck out and not go back to having it regularly until your LO is weaned!

With my first I got it back 5 months pp to the day and it was like clockwork right away.  With my second, I got it back at 3 months pp and it hasn't been as predictable, but it's definitely back.  Both EBF babies.  I guess I'm just super fertile.  And I don't think there's anything you can do to keep it from coming back, or else I'd do it!

I am so thankful! I was able to go 16 months without getting it back. After a week of trying to night wean, I think that's why it returned. Could just be coincidence though. Never did successfully night wean. I'm still nursing my DS through the night. A lot less now though. So I am thankful for that. But it's interesting, I almost feel better now that I'm having periods again. More in control of my fertility. I was terrified of getting pregnant and not knowing it!

I agree that you are lucky to have had a break mine came back so soon I thought it was just more PP flow! And I've been regular ever since, and when she returned DD hadn't even used a pacifier! We still cosleep, DD has only barely nibbled food (at nearly 11 months) and she nurses like a champ, usually around the clock.

I'm at 12m pp with no sign of AF.  I actually am interested in TTC very soon, so I WANT it to come soon. I have a feeling it won't until I nightwean though - which I plan to do last, at least another year or more.

I got mine right at four months despite round the clock nursing and it's been like clock work ever since. :-)

Honestly, I didn't mind, because emotionally/hormonally I felt better once my period came back. A bit of a pain, but oh well, right? ;)
