18 m/o wants to constantly nurse in certain situations

I can not deal with it!

If anyone is visiting us she wants to be attached to me the entire time, even if it is people she sees frequently! Last time my father and his wife were here she was nursing at least every 30 mins and it was not ok. If I told her she could wait a while b/c she just had some she just flipped out.

If we go somewhere with other moms/kids she wants to nurse every 30 mins or so as well.

IDK how to set a limit when she nurses on demand at home and when we are out. She usually will nurse every 3 or so hours and it's not an issue. Is this just another phase?

Perhaps she is experiencing separation anxiety and feels more secure when she is attached to you (literally). My son stays latched if he has any fear that I will be leaving him to step away while he naps. Where as at night, he nurses to sleep then unlatches, knowing that I am in bed until morning.

DS was like that, too. I chose to wean him outside the house because it made me uncomfortable. He developed new coping skills and it worked out well.

I have a friend who just nursed her son a lot in public. That's what worked for them. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

I agree that she's likely feeling some anxiety and feels better being close to you and nursing. It's funny, we took our DS who was 16 months at the time to Disney World. He seriously nursed on every ride we went on.
