High calorie food ideas for 9 mos old DS

We had DS's 9 mos well visit yesterday and he's growing like a weed.  Up, but not out.  He is 96th percentile for height and 30th for weight!  I'm not surprised as he's a busy, active little guy who is currently more interested in creeping and crawling than nursing!  In addition to trying to increase his opportunities to nurse (we do co-sleep so he's currently eating as much as he wants at night already) I am hoping for some high-calorie food ideas appropriate for a 9 month old.  So far we do avocado and I just bought some high fat plain greek yogurt.  He likes proteins, especially chicken and essentially eats what we eat.  I'm just steering clear of high-risk allergens such as nuts and eggs and of course sweets and salty foods as well.  Otherwise we aren't really restricting his diet as we don't have a family history of allergies.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Without a family history, not sure why you're avoiding eggs... Theyre a great source of fat and protein and extremely versatile. My toddler loves them.

Is your ped concerned by his growth pattern? Is he dropping off his growth curve? 30% for weight by itself would not concern me.

Thanks Cristeen.  I was avoiding eggs at the suggestion of the Dr. as they are a more common allergy.  I don't know if I agree with her but was being cautious I guess.

I'm not overly stressed about his weight, just don't want him to continue dropping.  He's just SO busy.  He loves his solids but isn't eat a ton and I don't expect him to. We do BLW and so I don't spoon feed him. If he was more interested in nursing I wouldn't be worried at all.  And I know it's just a phase, but need him to get some calories until the distracted phase passes.

He has dropped over a 6 month period, not just at this last appointment.  At 3 months he was 50th percentile for weight, at 6 months he was 43rd or so and now at 9 months he's 30th.  At 6 months he was 10th percentile weight for length and now he's 2nd percentile.

9 mos is a very common time for them to be too distracted to eat. At 9 mos my guy started refusing the breast completely and thats when we wound up completely on bottles. He also didnt start really eating a lot of solids until after 15 mos. It didnt really pick up until about 17.

At 9 mos, food is really still for experimentation. I wouldnt worry so much about solids but i would start offering to nurse more. You can read up on the 9 month nursing strike at kellymom.

As for eggs, some docs recommend it as a/the first food. Really, without any reason to expect an egg allergy, its not something I would worry about avoiding. But I was far more concerned with wheat and dairy than egg. YMMV.
