Holy Cow!

I am 10w6d but I am measuring at 16 weeks!  They think that I am either a month further along that previously thought, or that it is TWINS!  The thought of twins is both exciting and scary to me, I've always been fascinated by them...but TWO babies at the same time is a little crazy for me!

I have an U/S tomorrow morning to find out!  Of course, the craziest part is that in February I took a pregnancy test, two actually, and they were negative, and I had a period (which possibly was decidual bleeding?)...but that just increases the likelihood of twins....manohmanohmanohman.

Thanks for the vent!

I had the same thing.....now I'm a little freaked out.

How exciting for you, though! Good luck at the U/S!

Can't sleep!  The U/S is first thing in the morning and I woke up dreaming of having twins show up!  I do feel a little better because I have been scouring message boards and found out it is much more common that it sounded to measure further along this early in pregnancy.  Not that twins wouldn't be good/exciting, but I won't get any sleep tonight if that is the only outcome I can picture!  I'm excited/nervous still....hopefully I can get back to sleep and I will find some answers soon enough.

I was going to say this... and that measuring in general seems to be more of an art than a science and can often be drastically different from one practitioner to the next.  But, nonetheless, it is all very exciting and I cannot wait to hear the results!!

How exciting. I have heard that measuring fundal height before 20weeks is not accurate really which is why drs don't start doing it til 20weeks.

I have always measured ahead (as much as 8 weeks) after pregnancy #1 It seems to even out for me at 20 weeks.

Stalking anyhow. wink1.gif

I have a quick US today at my first peri appt, anxious to confirm only 1 healthy babe myself . 2whistle.gif

This is how I understood it as well.  My midwives don't start measuring until after 20 weeks.

Hi all,

Happy to report one healthy looking 11 week old babe!  =)

I was kind of surprised that my midwives were so taken aback by my measurements, so it had me a little worked up.  It wasn't just because of the fundus height, but also I have felt movement which surprised them--that with my nausea and maternal history of multiples, they were pretty certain there would be two (or more) in there!

Thanks for the reassurance, everyone!
