advice please! getting baby to sleep.

so here's the scoop: i have a 9 mo. he's really not a bad sleeper. we've got a decent routine. once he gets tired, i pop him in the ergo and bounce him down. no real problems. (thats for night and naps).

now, the problem: we just got a surprise positive (omagosh!). i really won't be able to bounce him down for much longer. HOW else do i get baby to sleep? i've got nine montgs to figure out something...he's never been a great napper anyways but i'd love some ideas on how to get him down that are pregnancy-friendly. i'd especially love to hear from multiparas who've btdt with getting an almost toddler to sleep with baby around (inside and out!).

p.s. he won't fall asleep in the stroller right now unless i go for a hour+ walk (not always do-able) nor will he nurse to sleep unless he's exhausted or already really drowsy but nursing isn't very practivle either with a new babe soon to be on the scene....

I had a bounce-to-sleep baby for a while, too.  Around your son's age she started being able to fall asleep in bed with me patting her back.  At 13 months she still sometimes likes to fall asleep lying down on top of me while I rhythmically pat her back and sing her a repetitive song (like Old MacDonald or This Old Man).  Oh, and I'm not talking a gentle pat - I'm talking light, rhythmic pounding.
