Any yoga teachers here?

Thread Starter

If so can you tell me a little about being a yoga teacher? What you like about it and the challenges?

I've been practicing yoga for years, and have often thought about teaching. I used to think it was unrealistic to make a full time living as a yoga teacher (for me, I know many people do it well, including my own teachers). But now that I have a two stable part time jobs (and a third very unstable one that I'm about to ditch), I feel I'm in a good position to do the training and start building a teaching practice.

Mods, if there's a better forum for this, please move it.

Subbing...

Been considering become certified myself. As a teacher, I'd love to teach yoga on the side and during the summers.

Having led informal groups of teens at the high school where I teach (voluntary on all parts), I must say that sharing yoga with others is EXTREMELY gratifying. I'm in love with the idea. I'm in a different space from you however, in that I already have a chosen career, and if I invest in a yoga teacher training, it'll be purely supplemental, income wise, and personally gratifying, versus making it a full time job for years to come.

I think the latter, however, can absolutely be done. I would take geography (urban, suburban, rural) into account, however. My final answer to anyone, anywhere, is to follow your dreams. Make smart decisions along the way, so your dreams become a reality, but the dream is the most important part of the equation.
