My baby had thrush a while ago. I treated it with the nystastin supension the doc gave me. It seemed to go away. The doc saw him again a couple weeks ago for possible pink eye, and she said she didn't see any sign of the thrush, that it was gone. I did clean all his toys.
But now my son (6mths) is getting small raised bumps on the outside of his upper lip along with redness. Like his upper lip looks chapped with some small bumps. I thought originally it was a reaction to some pureed pears I gave him for the first time, but it hasn't gone away. He has no white spots in his mouth, however, it is sore for me when he nurses.
I have been putting miconazole on myself and giving him some of the left over nystastin suspension to try to get rid of it, if it is thrush, but the bumps/redness on his upper lip is not going away.
Is it safe to put the miconazole on his upper lip? I am just using some I got for vaginal yeast infection. I have a doc appt set up, but its not until next wed, and I don't want my baby to be in pain until then.
Has anyone else had experience with redness/bumps on baby's upper lip? Can thrush show up on the outside of the mouth if no signs on the inside?
