Breastmilk Tea?

My daughter has been having some gas issues at night that are making it very difficult for her to settle. I visited my naturopath yesterday and she recommended a certain kind of herbal tea (fennel/peppermint) that can help. This might be a really weird question, but can you make tea with breastmilk, instead of water? I hate to give my daughter too much water (she is 9mo. old) or maybe I'm overworried about giving her water. I'll be giving her some tea every night -- probably a couple teaspoons total. Should I just go ahead and use water?

Also, does anyone give their little one probiotics in breastmilk? I put it in water today, but again, i really hate to give her too much water.

Thank you in advance.

If I were you, I'd use the water for the tea.  Really, you want the water to be boiling when you make it so it really activates the herbs.  Obviously, you need to let it cool before serving it to your daughter, but I'd use the water.

And yes, I have given probiotics in breastmilk before.  Totally acceptable and a really good idea!  Good luck!  If she doesn't like the tea, have you tried gripe water?  I know the one I linked has additives like fructose, which obviously isn't ideal, but gripe water may help.  We had good success with it for my foster daughter when she had bad colic.

Thank  you for your reply! I made the tea with water and she loved. Helps that she is really into drinking out a glass like her mama.

If the tea doesn't help, I am totally going to try the gripe water. Makes sense, it has fennel in it, just like the tea.
