Help finding an evergreen bush for shade and sun?

I'm hoping someone can help me.  I'm slowly replacing many of the bushes around my house as they are old and really on their last legs.  Last weekend we took out 20 overgrown, dying bushes and put in 10 new ones and it looks SO much better.  I was able to do it because the bushes I wanted were on a great sale so I picked them up.

I want to figure out what other types will work so I can keep an eye out for sales.  I just put in boxwoods so I'd like something different.

I'm in zone 5.  The problem is that the front of my house is very symmetrical.  Yet one side gets much more shade than the other.  I'd like to find a low (1-2.5 ft), round-ish evergreen that would work on both sides.  I also need to find a larger one to put on either side of the entrance (maybe 3-4.5 feet high and up to about 2 feet wide) that would tolerate sun and shade.

To give you an idea, I had planted petunias on either side last year.  The ones in the sun thrived.  The ones on the somewhat shady side did not.  I ended up having to move them.

I've searched a bunch of garden sites and just can't come up with anything.

Anyone?

Have you considered a bush of some type? I have one outside my livingroom window that smells wonderful when it flowers. Just put in a lilac on the other side of the home to do the same.
